MSNBC has grounded “Obama-groupie” Chris Matthews, restricting him from the network’s coverage of the South Carolina primary. Matthews is in the doghouse after apparently creeping out an on air guest, Laura Bassett, who claims that he inappropriately sexualized her.
Fox News reports:
She recalled Matthews looking at her in an adjacent makeup chair before an appearance in 2016 and asking: ‘Why haven’t I fallen in love with you yet?'” Bassett said she laughed nervously but Matthews kept making comments to the makeup artist. “Keep putting makeup on her, I’ll fall in love with her,” Matthews allegedly said.
She said he made another comment about her makeup during a separate appearance. “Make sure you wipe this off her face after the show,” she wrote he said to the makeup artist. “We don’t make her up so some guy at a bar can look at her like this.”
Bassett alleges that Matthews routinely engages in this stalkeresque behavior and “somehow” it undermines her ability to do her job well.
“In 2017, I wrote about a cable news host being gross and inappropriate with me. I was afraid to name him at the time,” she tweeted on Friday. “I’m not anymore; it was Chris Matthews! And his sexist exchange with [Sen. Elizabeth] Warren this week inspired me to revisit those moments and name him.”
Matthews, who poses as a journalist on MSNBC, has been caught before referencing awkward sexual metaphors, like this one, to the weathered senator from California, Kamala Harris.
In reality, all of the examples of Chris Matthews’ overt misogyny are pretty dam lame, if anything he is just a desperate loser trying to get a cheap thrill. If anything Matthews is a closet predator, however, he is complicit in promoting this “cry-baby” culture, so I guess karma’s a bitch.
